Government Funding for Childcare Costs
If you are looking for support with childcare costs, getting financial help is easier than you might think.
“Childcare Choices” is an initiative that brings together all of the government childcare offers in one place, including two schemes for working parents:
Tax-Free Childcare
Parents can get up to £2,000 per child, per year for children under the age of 12 and £4,000 for disabled children under 17. Tax-Free Childcare can be used with the free entitlement hours schemes. However, it can’t be used at the same time as Childcare Vouchers, Universal Credit or Tax Credits.
Extended Free Entitlement Hours
Some 3-to-4-year-olds may be eligible for Extended Free Entitlement Hours in government funding. This is available working parents in England, and if eligible, the scheme could save working families up to £5,000 a year.
In order to see what offers may be available to support you and your family, you may use the childcare calculator on the government website: https://www.gov.uk/childcare-calculator
